Statement of Chairperson, Batul Gulani on Receiving Award
It was such an honour to receive the 2017 Multicultural Awards for Excellence, recognised as one of ‘Victoria’s Multicultural Heroes’ and received the Premier’s Award for “Community Harmony for her work with culturally diverse communities.”
The AMAFHH team has been an amazing support for me in the expansion of my role, and I couldn’t have been involved in so many great projects without them backing me up.
This award belongs to the dedicated AMAFHH Team; especially the continued support of my Husband Munawar Gulani, including my children Raza Gulani, Sabica Manjee and Ali Raza Gulani, David Webb (Secretary), Ali Manjee (Treasurer), Sohail Merchant (Vice President), Muhammed Raza (Web/ Graphic designer), Committee members Dr Mehreen Fatima, Farha Masood, Tatheer Raza, Maliha Gulani, Fizza Haider, Gulshan and countless Youth Volunteers.
I want to extend my special thanks to Mohamed Yassin of Fine Capture Photography for his voluntary support of taking pictures at most of our events.
As AMAFHH’s devoted volunteers, this award recognises your collective dedication and hard work in your struggle to serve humanity for the pleasure of Allah (SWT) with the slogan “charity begins from home, and we serve humanity”. This is not just a slogan for us; we have established many services for the unprivileged regardless of their religion, social standing, background or economic status. It is due to our collective vision and dedication, AMAFHH has begun flourishing within Victoria. We all can bring change and gain great achievements if we believe in the abilities of our youth and allow them to lead while supporting with compassion, positivity and trust, empower and support our women, train leaders to lead with empathy and fairness, select leaders only on the basis of taqwa and humility, support the good cause no matter who is initiating, do not allow rumours or misinformation cloud us, instead seek facts from the sources. Above all, sacrifice a few hours a week to volunteer to serve humanity, and collectively we will create a whole generation of volunteers ready to serve.
Instead of waiting for others to make a change, AMAFHH Team stood up and took the first step towards a brighter future for Victorian. As Victorian. And Proud Of It. AMAFHH works very hard to support women of all communities through the different services, mainly the counselling service it offers. AMAFHH also helps to educate women in various areas. This well-known saying is attributed to AMAFHH, If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a nation.
